May 29, 2009Target Audience
May 27, 2009Target Audience Magazine has asked me to wrte an article about this novel and the ebay auction involved.
I am very excited.
Editing
May 24, 2009Last night I wrote 600 words, then cut almost 2,000 words that had already been written. That initial paragraph is now something reasonable. It feels tight. I cut about a third of the descriptions of the girl’s pussy. That feels right to me.
Then I watched The Devil’s Rejects and drank Beer.
Chinaski
May 23, 2009Bukowski has made his first appearance in the novel. Sort of. Actually, a character mentions having gone to a poetry reading by a guy named Henry Chinaski, but everyone will know what I mean.
This isn’t the fastest I’ve written, but is is coming quickly.
Wrestling stuff is seeping in too.
The Wrestler
May 22, 2009This afternoon, as part of the research for the novel, I had a long conversation with a former pro-wrestler. He filled me in on many details and much minutiae of the wrestling biz. I feel like I have a much better understanding of it now.
Barfight
May 21, 2009Right now I am mostly making notes, building an outline and working around some problems in my head.
Later tonight I will write between 1,000 and 1,200 words.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates and such.
Plus, watch re-runs of Dexter.
Winner winner chicken dinner
May 17, 2009It turns out that the auction winner is cool, and has a great back story.
I wrote the first 1200 words last night. It has flow. It has funky fresh fly grooves. It has tits and pussy and drinking and wrestling. It is gonna fry your brain.
I am excited
The next step
May 16, 2009My auction to be a character in my next novel is over. The winner is paying $107.50 (which is more than I thought that I would get). Now there is a lot of work to be done. A lot of work.
The rest is waiting
May 15, 2009With 22 hours to go the auction is up to $102.50 (what a strange amount). I made more extensive notes (these would likely make sense to people who are not me). Beyond that, the rest is waiting.
What’s all this then
May 14, 2009Tom Waits and Charles Bukowski Fistfight in Hell will be a novel. This novel will contain a character based on the winner of an eBay auction. You can read more about that at http://ebaythenovel.wordpress.com/ or http://nathantyree.wordpress.com/
On this blog I will keep a diary of the process of creating the book at getting it into print. In this first post all I have to offer are some random notes that I have made. They follow:
