Has the novel hit a wall?

June 22, 2009 by nathantyree

Yes. It has. But this isn’t the wall I am used to. This wall splits it up. I currently have two drafts going, running in two different directions. I don’t know if they will converge, or if I’m accidentally writing two different novels.

My brain is such a weird thing.

Looking out

June 14, 2009 by nathantyree

Since the blog posts about wanting a publisher to find me, I’ve gotten some interesting emails. Nothing that would count as real “interest” yet, but some fascinating questions.

I feel whole and clean.

I need a dominatrix to force me to my knees

June 12, 2009 by nathantyree

Tom Waits and Charles Bukowski Fistfight in Hell (the ebay inspired novel that I blog about here) is coming along. Very soon I will want to find a publisher interested in a strange, twisted, sad novel with a little internet buzz behind it. If you run or work for an indie press (or want to start one) email me at nathanctyree@gmail.com —

put something about Waits or Bukowski in the subject line.

Don’t make me beg.

A tiny bit of that buzz is here

Editing

May 24, 2009 by nathantyree

Last night I wrote 600 words, then cut almost 2,000 words that had already been written. That initial paragraph is now something reasonable. It feels tight. I cut about a third of the descriptions of the girl’s pussy. That feels right to me.

Then I watched The Devil’s Rejects and drank Beer.

Chinaski

May 23, 2009 by nathantyree

Bukowski has made his first appearance in the novel. Sort of. Actually, a character mentions having gone to a poetry reading by a guy named Henry Chinaski, but everyone will know what I mean.

This isn’t the fastest I’ve written, but is is coming quickly.

Wrestling stuff is seeping in too.

The Wrestler

May 22, 2009 by nathantyree

This afternoon, as part of the research for the novel, I had a long conversation with a former pro-wrestler. He filled me in on many details and much minutiae of the wrestling biz. I feel like I have a much better understanding of it now.

Barfight

May 21, 2009 by nathantyree

Right now I am mostly making notes, building an outline and working around some problems in my head.

Later tonight I will write between 1,000 and 1,200 words.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates and such.

Plus, watch re-runs of Dexter.

Winner winner chicken dinner

It turns out that the auction winner is cool, and has a great back story.

I wrote the first 1200 words last night. It has flow. It has funky fresh fly grooves. It has tits and pussy and drinking and wrestling. It is gonna fry your brain.

I am excited
